Family

Married to David, Blossum was blessed with both a Canadian family, as well as an Australian family.

Blossum’s Canadian family included her dad, Terry Gilmour, her mum, Donna Erickson and her other dad, Todd Erickson. She loved all three deeply, planning every trip home around seeing them. She had two sisters, Spring and Danielle, whom she also loved (and sometimes argued with) passionately. Spring’s husband Mike and Danielle’s partner Jay were two of her top four brother-in-laws. Blossum had an elder brother, Paul, married to Christine, and a younger brother Jordan, married to Gina. Blossum had two Canadian nieces, Paige and Isla, and four nephews – Gordan, Oliver, Jackson and Blake. Blossum appreciated all the times she caught-up with all of her Canadian family. She was always more relaxed, and herself, around her family. Blossum also had Canadian cousins and extended family she remained in contact with.

Blossum’s Australian family included her in-laws, Peter and Catherine, her three sisters-in-law, Ann, Carolyn and Melissa, as well as her ‘out-laws’, David Williams and Justin. Stephanie and Thomas were her down-under niece and nephew. Blossum was also afflicted with all her husband’s extended family – seemingly hundreds of them. She pretended to tolerate them but secretly loved them.

Friends

Blossum made friends all around the world, She had some remaining friends from high school and university, as well as friends made in Japan, Indonesia, Sudan, PNG, Timor and Laos. It sometimes took time for Blossum to make close friends, and it was hard to seperate from friends often, when either they, or her, moved country. But Blossum had many friends she held close to her heart. Some she stayed in regular or irregular contact with. Others she didn’t have much contact with but she still felt close to. Many of their photos are below. If yours is not, please send your favourite picture with Blossum to add. Please note, so that photos are not duplicated too often in the website, many photos of friends are in other sections, or on the page with Blossum’s life story.

Running

If you knew Blossum, you knew she LOVED running. It was her sport. The thing that made her sane, made her feel good. She ran weekly, usually multiple times a week. She ran in EVERY country she visited, one year achieving runs in 12 countries. She ran in events in many countries including many ultra marathons, including: the Surf Coast Century (100km) in Australia; the Tarawera Ultra (50km) in New Zealand; the AnkorWat Trail Marathon (21km) in Cambodia; the Most Beautiful Thing Ultra (30kms) in Malaysia; the Addo Elephant Ultra (44km) in South Africa, the Dili Half marathon in Timor, the Zion Ultra (30km) in the US, and the Fat Dog Ultra (50km) in Canada. Blossum also ran multiple half marathons in Laos, organised by her friends at Events For Good. Blossum even organised the Goroka Marathon and Highlands Half-Marathon for about 20 of her friends in PNG – the first of its kind!
